Meeting/Event Information

Illinois Chapter usually meets once each month, August through June, on Tuesdays. The Chapter’s annual golf outing and fund raiser always takes place in September. Generally 70 to 80 members gather at monthly meetings, which makes them an excellent networking opportunity for members interested in meeting and developing other contacts in the industry.

The State of Illinois requires professional engineers to complete 30 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) of training for license renewal. The Illinois Chapter ASHRAE offers educational programs with more than enough PDHs to help engineers satisfy this requirement.

Presentations from previous Chapter seminars and meetings may be downloaded after logging into the "Member Area." The Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE stores past presentations. You must be a member to access them from this website. If you are not yet a member, sign-up today or contact us for more information.

Tonight's presentation (in-person & virtual) will begin at 6:00 pm.

While much has been written and spoken about managing Millennials, what advice is there for young executives now charged with having to manage older generation workers? The demographics of many organizations are quickly shifting into higher age groups. And the shift is resulting in management positions oftentimes now being filled by younger candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in lieu of frontline experience. This age and experience differential can come with various challenges. Gaps can form in communication, accountability, expectations, responsibility, and respect. Our October 19 meeting presentation, Millennials Managing Boomers — How to/How not to," will pull from the recent experience of two younger individuals to cover many lessons learned, suggestions, anecdotal examples, and best practices for bridging that gap in order to manage effectively. Here what both have observed and learned.

Austin Rennick PE, CHFM, CEM, LEED AP, is the Regional Director of Facilities, and Ryan Ollie, PE, CHFM, CHOP, CEM, is Facilities Manager at Advocate Aurora Health (AAH). Both former consulting engineers have held a variety of positions during their combined 13 years at AAH. Austin, an Illinois ASHRAE member, has been a guest presenter at past chapter events. Ryan currently serves as President-Elect of the Healthcare Engineers Society of Northern Illinois (HESNI).
