Meeting/Event Information
Illinois Chapter usually meets once each month, August through June, on Tuesdays. The Chapter’s annual golf outing and fund raiser always takes place in September. Generally 70 to 80 members gather at monthly meetings, which makes them an excellent networking opportunity for members interested in meeting and developing other contacts in the industry.
The State of Illinois requires professional engineers to complete 30 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) of training for license renewal. The Illinois Chapter ASHRAE offers educational programs with more than enough PDHs to help engineers satisfy this requirement.
Presentations from previous Chapter seminars and meetings may be downloaded after logging into the "Member Area." The Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE stores past presentations. You must be a member to access them from this website. If you are not yet a member, sign-up today or contact us for more information.

We will gather again next on Tuesday, May 10, at the Rock Bottom Brewery in Chicago's River North. This time we expect to welcome our friends and partners in HVAC who are members of the Mechanical Contractors Association (MCA). We hope you will be able to join us for some great local brews, delicious food and another interesting technical talk. Our presenter this month is Hugh Seaton, the founder of the software firm The_Link, who will talk about The Future of BIM. Hugh will address:
- BIM developments you should know about now (mostly Revit plugins)
- Automation – how BIM coordination will continue to get faster & easier
- Integration – how BIM workflows will connect to everything from purchasing to scheduling
- Fabrication – how BIM workflows will connect directly to fabrication
- Generation – how generative design will create a whole new toolkit for VDC
Hugh Seaton is founder of The_Link, a software platform aimed at making specifications useful for contractors. Prior to this he was general manager of Crosswalk by CSI. Hugh has spent almost three decades in technology development and marketing, discovering his passion for construction technology on a BIM project in China. A founding member of the AEC Hackathon, host of the Constructed Futures and Data in Construction podcasts, and author of the Construction Technology Handbook, Hugh continues to explore ways to help the industry balance technological progress with the practical realities of construction.
We are excited to welcome MCA members and thank them for their sponsorship of the May 10 Meeting!
