Meeting/Event Information
Illinois Chapter usually meets once each month, August through June, on Tuesdays. The Chapter’s annual golf outing and fund raiser always takes place in September. Generally 70 to 80 members gather at monthly meetings, which makes them an excellent networking opportunity for members interested in meeting and developing other contacts in the industry.
The State of Illinois requires professional engineers to complete 30 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) of training for license renewal. The Illinois Chapter ASHRAE offers educational programs with more than enough PDHs to help engineers satisfy this requirement.
Presentations from previous Chapter seminars and meetings may be downloaded after logging into the "Member Area." The Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE stores past presentations. In June we return to Rock Bottom Brewery in Chicago's River North neighborhood for our final membership meeting of 2021-22. This month our presentation topic will focus on Harmonics. It will begin with an introduction and overview of harmonics — what harmonics are, effects of harmonics, and different mitigation solutions available in today's building construction market. The presentation will also update us on the IEEE519 standard for harmonics. We are looking forward to another interesting, thoughtful and fun get together and hope you will join us.
The technical program will be led by Himanshu Hirlekar, Technical Product Manager for Danfoss Drives. In his 11+ years with Danfoss, Himanshu has worked in varied functions including Product Management, Supply Chain and Product Development. He currently manages the High Power Drives global portfolio. Himanshu holds a Master`s degree in Electrical Engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology (formerly Univ. of Missouri – Rolla).
