Meeting/Event Information
Illinois Chapter usually meets once each month, August through June, on Tuesdays. The Chapter’s annual golf outing and fund raiser always takes place in September. Generally 70 to 80 members gather at monthly meetings, which makes them an excellent networking opportunity for members interested in meeting and developing other contacts in the industry.
The State of Illinois requires professional engineers to complete 30 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) of training for license renewal. The Illinois Chapter ASHRAE offers educational programs with more than enough PDHs to help engineers satisfy this requirement.
Presentations from previous Chapter seminars and meetings may be downloaded after logging into the "Member Area." The Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE stores past presentations. You must be a member to access them from this website. If you are not yet a member, sign-up today or contact us for more information.

Technical skills will get you the job, human skills will get more clients, increase your productivity and happiness!
We go to school and what do we learn? Technical skills. It’s all about the technical skills, and don’t get me wrong, we need them. But who cares how smart we are and how good we are at our job if we can’t communicate, struggle to manage ourselves under stress, and lack empathy? Would you rather work for a highly technical manager that has a big ego, and lacks self-control or work with an above-average technical manager that is trustworthy, patient, and motivating?
Human Skills are not taught at school and are not the primary focus in the work environment. But I promise you that when you spend time developing your human skills, the results will start showing without even trying. In this presentation, Karine LeBlanc will focus on the strategies to improve your human skills to change the behavior that may be holding you back so you can be more productive, experience total freedom, and be happier. I will show you how to unleash the more human side of you.
Meet Karine Leblanc, engineer, bestselling author, and international speaker. She is the National Sales Manager at iAIRE, where she uses her engineering background, coaching, and relationship-building skills to motivate and develop a winning sales team. Karine has a mechanical engineering degree from Ecole de Technologie Superieure in Montreal, a University focused on applied engineering and technology. She is a certified John Maxwell coach, trainer, and speaker, a certified behavioral analysis consultant, and an eSpeakers certified virtual presenter. Karine LeBlanc is the published author of How to Be Human in a Technical World, available on Amazon.
Karine served on the board of directors for ASHRAE from 2014 to 2017 and holds the distinction of becoming the first female Region X director and regional chair since 1959. She is the Past-President of the National Speaker Association Los Angeles Chapter. She has received the ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award, John F James International Award and was awarded an honorary medal as part of the 50th anniversary of the University of Quebec for her exceptional contribution to the university. She has recently been named Leadership Ambassador at her alma mater.
