Meeting/Event Information
Illinois Chapter usually meets once each month, August through June, on Tuesdays. The Chapter’s annual golf outing and fund raiser always takes place in September. Generally 70 to 80 members gather at monthly meetings, which makes them an excellent networking opportunity for members interested in meeting and developing other contacts in the industry.
The State of Illinois requires professional engineers to complete 30 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) of training for license renewal. The Illinois Chapter ASHRAE offers educational programs with more than enough PDHs to help engineers satisfy this requirement.
Presentations from previous Chapter seminars and meetings may be downloaded after logging into the "Member Area." The Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE stores past presentations. You must be a member to access them from this website. If you are not yet a member, sign-up today or contact us for more information.

Speaker: Jacek Grob, Technical Sales Manager, LAARS Heating Systems
Join us for an in-depth presentation with Jacek Grob, a seasoned technical sales leader with over 27 years of experience in the mechanical and industrial engineering industry. Jacek brings a strong background in system application design and sales across steam, hydronics, domestic water heating, heat exchangers, burners, and controls, along with extensive experience training and supporting manufacturer reps, distributors, contractors, and end users.
Originally from Poland, Jacek began his career in the boiler industry as a service technician and has since held key roles in sales and market development for a wide range of industrial steam and hot water boiler and burner manufacturers. His hands-on technical knowledge and real-world perspective make him uniquely qualified to address today’s evolving system design challenges.
This session will focus on upcoming DOE regulations for commercial water heaters and explore practical retrofit options moving forward. Topics include replacing existing CAT I DHW heaters with high-efficiency CAT IV condensing systems, electric storage heaters, heat pump systems, and combination systems utilizing existing boiler plants with indirect heat exchangers. Jacek will also walk through the fundamentals of combination system design, covering the “nuts and bolts” engineers need to consider, followed by a live Q&A.
